We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Seventeenth-century oak furniture is characterised by solid timber construction, heavy proportions, hand-carved ornamentation, and a deep patinated finish developed over centuries of use.

These pieces were constructed almost exclusively from solid English oak, joined using traditional mortise and tenon joints secured with wooden pegs rather than metal nails.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand- adzed or pit-sawn board surfaces, irregular tool marks, shrinkage splits, pegged joints, and natural wax patination built up over generations.

Pairing a historic oak table with contemporary minimalist seating or sleek lighting creates a balanced contrast, allowing the rich texture and grain of the wood to serve as a focal point.

Maintain antique oak by keeping it away from direct heat sources and sunlight, and periodically nourish the wood with a traditional beeswax polish to protect the finish without sealing the pores.
