FAQs

Georgian tilt top tables gained popularity during the 18th century as versatile furniture that could be tipped upright and stored against a wall when not in use to save space in smaller rooms.

Cabinet makers typically used dense tropical hardwoods such as solid mahogany imported from the West Indies, often paired with brass mechanisms, castors, and iron catches for durability.

Authentic pieces feature period-correct joinery, hand-turned pillars, natural patina, and hand-cut brass fixings without modern machine screws or synthetic glues.

Pairing a dark wood antique table with modern minimalist chairs creates a striking visual contrast that anchors the dining space while respecting historical craftsmanship.

Maintain the finish by applying natural beeswax periodically, avoiding direct sunlight to prevent fading, and keeping the wood away from extreme temperature fluctuations.
