Description

A Georgian period satinwood and rosewood crossbanded, mahogany console or fold-over tea table with ebony and boxwood strung inlaid borders, circa 1800. This high quality, original table with oblong shaped top with rounded front corners and square edge, rosewood and satinwood crossbanded with ebony and boxwood stringing to the border. Square edge with matching stringing and cross banding. The top folds out to reveal a squared top with rounded corners further matching borders. Complimentary frieze with strung panels, raised on fine square tapering legs with elongated strung panels, on fine spade feet. Twin hinged rear legs to support the folded out top.

An unmolested original table, of the highest quality and beautifully made. A true survivor piece. In very good condition and very well presented. Sensitively cleaned and wax polished, now very much ready for use.

Dimensions:

This table measures approximately 74.5 cm (29.375") tall, 95.75 cm (37.75") wide, 46.5 cm (18.25") deep unfolded, and 93.25 cm (36.75") folded out across the top.

Condition:

Please see the pictures for details of the items condition. - This table is in a very good and totally original condition, commensurate with its age, and is structurally very sound and sturdy. All original with no signs of obvious damage or repair. Some marks and blemishes, in keeping with age and use. The original polish has all but faded away, with the only evidence of it inside the folded out top, where the original colours can still be found. The tables current colour and patina is warm and appealing. No loose joints. A few minor historic worm holes to the hidden secondary timbers. Now treated by way of precaution. Sensitively cleaned and waxed, and now very much ready for use. - As with all vintage & antique furniture there will be signs of use, marks, wear & tear, etc.
