Staffordshire flatback figures were lead-glazed earthenware ornaments produced in 19th-century England, designed specifically with a flattened unpainted back to sit flush against a fireplace mantelpiece.

These figures were cast from moulded earthenware clay, decorated with press-moulded relief details, coated in a white glaze, and hand-painted using enamel colours.
