FAQs

Art Deco dinner gongs emerged during the 1920s and 1930s, reflecting the eras fascination with stylised geometry, mechanisation, and exotic influences. They were commonly used in affluent households to summon guests to the dining table.

These items typically feature chrome-plated or nickel-plated brass, bronze, or steel frames, often incorporating cast metal figures and suspended metallic plates designed to produce a resonant chime when struck.

Authentic pieces exhibit period-specific manufacturing traits such as hand-finished metalwork, traditional fastening methods, appropriate weight, and characteristic stylised silhouettes typical of 1920s and 1930s design.

An antique dinner gong serves as a striking decorative focal point when placed on a sideboard, console table, or mantelpiece, adding metallic sheen and historical character to contemporary living spaces.

Maintain the metal finish by dusting regularly with a soft, dry cloth and avoiding harsh chemical polishes or abrasive materials that could strip plated surfaces.
