Description

This is an absolutely stunning Art Deco tea trolley, very much in the skyscraper design. Very heavy duty chromed steel with 3 glass shelves. The wheels are later replacements but the outer sleeves are original. This was originally used in the boardroom of a major bank in Halifax which might account for it's over the top quality and design. This is probably the finest piece of Art Deco furniture we have ever handled or indeed seen in 60 years of trading.

Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

FAQs

Art Deco is characterised by sleek geometric shapes, streamlined forms, and the use of modern industrial materials such as chrome, glass, and polished metals.

Vintage tea trolleys typically incorporate metals such as chrome, nickel, or brass, paired with glass shelves, mirrored surfaces, or various polished hardwoods.

Authentic pieces often exhibit period-specific manufacturing techniques, genuine material weight, appropriate patina or oxidisation on the metal, and distinct construction joints typical of the early-to-mid 20th century.

An antique tea trolley can be styled as a functional home bar using glassware, decanters, and cocktail accessories, or utilized as a mobile plant stand and accent display surface.

Clean chrome surfaces with a soft, dry microfiber cloth and non-abrasive metal cleaners, and use standard glass cleaner for the shelves while avoiding harsh chemicals that could damage vintage plating.
