A 17thC and Later English Oak 2 Plank Side Table, Bobbin Turned Legs, 70cm wide.
A handsome English oak side table typical of the mid 17th century with possible later elements.
A fine quality mid 17th century 2 plank top oak side table, a style associated with the Charles 11 period and features its original household ownership initials RH to each side of the single frieze fitted drawer, which we estimate to be later, with 4 bobbin turned legs which are in turn united by a H frame stretcher.
A robust table of exquisite proportions, measuring 70cm and presented in mostly excellent condition for the period.
The design and construction is undeniably English mid to 3rd quarter 17th century circa 1660-1680, it’s not uncommon for furniture of this period to have suffered a hard life and use within the household of no electricity, heating and stone exposed floors etc.., and repairs therefore usual to expect. The most obvious is a later drawer, loyally constructed during the 20th ce
...ntury.
A honest and useable antique furniture piece for a classic or contemporary space of both function and form, an interior design piece of considerable decorative appeal.
