Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A porcelain pomander, or potpourri vase, is a decorative pierced ceramic vessel designed during the 18th century to hold fragrant dried herbs and flowers, diffusing natural scents throughout living spaces before modern air fresheners were invented.

Georgian pomanders were typically crafted from soft-paste or hard-paste porcelain, hand-moulded with intricate scrollwork, pierced lids, and adorned with enamel painting and hand-applied gold leaf gilding.

Authentic 18th-century pieces often feature characteristic manufacturing traits such as slight translucency, hand-painted marks or script on the base, minor kiln firing imperfections, and delicate hand-gilded decoration around pierced apertures.

An antique pomander works well placed atop a mantelpiece, sideboard, or integrated into a curated display cabinet alongside complementary ceramics, adding historical texture and craftsmanship to a room.

Clean delicate porcelain using a soft, dry microfibre brush or cloth to gently remove dust, avoiding water immersion, chemical detergents, or abrasive rubbing which can strip gold leaf gilding.
