Gilt and Gesso has dated this piece to the 1900s.
Early 20th century Chinese hardwood, a native rosewood family and bone-inlaid two-tier occasional table, with a moulded edge square top, enclosing a decorative inlaid landscape featuring traditional pagoda buildings over a pierced foliate frieze and lower tier inlaid with prunus decoration with further pierced frieze and quadrants, raised on splayed square section supports with complementing decoration.
A fine quality, highly skilled workshop-made antique table with exquisite inlaid decoration.
The table is structurally excellent, robust and well constructed with makers marks carved to the underside. Please note that 2 small areas of the pierced frieze on the rear top section are missing, see photos, the top has a slight seam split which is due to atmospheric changes and some sun fading to top colour only.
We may end listing and consign to our workshop to address these minor cosmetic issues and relist at a higher price, until then it is available as it is and sensibly priced, a very fine table.
