Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Georgian tripod wine table is a compact occasional table that originated in 18th-century Britain, designed primarily to hold candles or drinks beside seating. It typically features a central turned column, three outward-curving legs, and a circular top, often with a raised or dished rim.

These tables were predominantly crafted from solid dense mahogany, favoured for its rich grain, stability, and durability. Craftspeople used hand-lathes to turn the central pedestal column and hand-carved the legs, joining them to the base block using traditional joinery methods.

Authentic period pieces show evidence of hand craftsmanship, such as subtle irregularities in the turned column, hand-planed undersides, and original iron strap reinforcement beneath the leg block. The wood will also display age-appropriate patination and natural shrinkage lines in the timber grain.

Position the table alongside a contemporary armchair or sofa to function as an elegant side surface for books or drinks. Its slender silhouette makes it effective for space-conscious rooms or quiet reading nooks without visually crowding the floor space.

Dust regularly using a dry microfibre cloth and apply a natural beeswax polish twice a year to maintain the timber finish. Keep the piece clear of direct heat sources and radiators to prevent the solid mahogany top from warping or splitting over time.
