Pair Of French Directoire Period Mahogany Side Tables

A seriously smart pair of French Directoire period mahogany and ormolu mounted side tables; the rouge marble tops with pierced brass galleries above two drawers which retain their originail lion mask ring pull handles and raised on square tapering legs terminating in their original ormolu spade feet. The drawer fronts, sides and back of each table are panelled with ormolu mouldings and crossbanded in purple heart.
Circa: 1810
One table has a lift up top which opens to reveal additional storage, the other table has a drawer on the left and right hand side.
This pair of tables would look fantastic in alcoves or either side of a sofa with lamps; they would also make great looking bedside tables.
