FAQs

The George III style spans the second half of the eighteenth century, characterised by a blend of classical proportions, refined craftsmanship, and influences from Chippendale, Hepplewhite, and Sheraton designs.

These tables were typically constructed from dense hardwoods such as mahogany or oak, utilising traditional joinery and delicately turned slender stretchers to ensure structural stability despite their narrow profiles.

Authentication involves examining timber shrinkage, hand-cut dovetails or joinery marks, surface patination consistent with age, and the specific proportions of the turned legs and gateleg action.

Such a piece works effectively as an occasional or side table in modern living spaces, providing a touch of historic warmth and linear contrast against minimalist or transitional decor.

Maintenance requires keeping the wood away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent cracking, dusting with a dry lint-free cloth, and occasionally applying appropriate natural wax polish to preserve the finish.
