A Charming Oak Side Table In The Style Of The Cotswold School

Status: This item has been sold
Sold by: Culvertons

This attractive and distinctive oak side table is very reminiscent of the Cotswold School, and dates to the late 1920s. As you can see from the images, the cabinet maker has created a table of simple form, but with an eye for decorative detail. These are just two of the characteristics of furniture ascribed to this popular school of design that developed from the Arts & Crafts movement. The cabinet maker has used English brown and normal English oak to great effect. The table legs have been chamfered and the turned oak drawer knobs, sit comfortably upon their raised and faceted bases, a combination that works well together. Decorative rose-headed nails and wooden pegs are pleasing addition to the top. We have sensitively restored this table, so it can once again be be used and enjoyed in a broad range of interior settings.
