Victorian Staffordshire Lion C1860

Description

This aristocratic VICTORIAN STAFFORDSHIRE LION dates from circa 1860.

He stands proudly on a grassy slope with one leg raised.

The condition is good. All there is is a tiny chip to a shredded clay grass tuft and an old filled-in chip to the back of the Figure at the base. There is no other restoration.

Height: 6.75 inches (17 cm)

Staffordshire pottery refers to earthenware figures and wares manufactured in the Staffordshire region of England, particularly during the 18th and 19th centuries. Production increased significantly during the Victorian era to meet widespread demand for accessible home decor.
