Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This late 19th-century Vienna porcelain decorative tray is rendered in a Neoclassical Revival style. The piece presents a circular form measuring 3 cm high, 52 cm wide, and 51 cm deep, finished in a rich burgundy and gold colour palette with extensive gold leaf enamel and gilt scrollwork. Ornate pierced handles project from the left and right rims, matching the intricate scroll motifs and two oval cherub medallions positioned at the top and bottom of the border. The central rectangular panel depicts a polychrome hand-painted scene of classical figures, showing women in pink, white, and purple robes gathered near a tree-lined stone terrace alongside a dog. The wide maroon border displays detailed gilt foliate patterns framing the central vignette. Placed on top of a dining room sideboard, this tray serves as a striking decorative surface for display.

FAQs

Vienna style porcelain from the late 19th century is recognised for its elaborate gilding, rich ground colours such as maroon or cobalt blue, and central hand-painted reserves depicting mythological, historical, or biblical subjects.

These items were crafted from hard-paste porcelain, fired at high temperatures, and subsequently detailed with multi-layered hand-painted enamel and burnished gold leaf gilding.

Authentic Vienna porcelain often features an underglaze blue shield or beehive mark, detailed miniature paintings, raised gilding, and artist signatures within the scene.

A porcelain tray of this style is typically displayed on a stand within a cabinet, mounted securely on a wall, or laid flat as a central decor item on a console table or sideboard.

Gilded porcelain should be dusted gently with a dry, soft microfibre cloth or soft brush. Avoid abrasive cleaners, chemicals, or immersion in water, as these can wear away the gilding and overglaze enamel.
