Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This antique Austrian porcelain centrepiece vase from 1910 displays a Rococo Revival style with cream, pink, and polychrome enamel finishes accented with gold leaf. The sculptural composition features a central boat-shaped trough decorated with a hand-painted floral spray, a reticulated rim, and a curved handle, supported by short feet. Classical figures and winged putti in high relief cling to the vessel, including a draped female figure standing at one end and cherubs positioned at the top edge and base. Measuring 21 cm high, 31 cm wide, and 11.5 cm deep, this figural piece serves as a decorative display object. In a contemporary home, this centrepiece adds sculptural interest and classical ornamentation when placed on a sideboard top, dining table, or mantelpiece. The delicate pastel palette and detailed porcelain hand-modelling provide a focal point within traditional or eclectic interior schemes. The smooth glazed surfaces and intricate painted flowers catch the light, while the figural elements create depth from multiple viewing angles. The compact dimensions allow it to integrate smoothly onto standard console tables and display cabinets without dominating surrounding decor.

FAQs

Figural porcelain centrepieces from this era typically combine functional vessel forms with sculpted classical figures, putti, floral panels, and Rococo scrollwork, designed as formal table decor.

Artisans pressed or cast porcelain paste, attached hand-modelled figural elements using slip, applied overglaze enamel floral decoration, and finished the rims and accents with gilded detailing.

Authentic examples feature hand-painted floral decoration, subtle mould lines, hand-sculpted facial details on figures, underglaze maker marks or impression numbers, and natural wear on unglazed surfaces.

Position the piece as a focal point on a formal dining table, sideboard, or mantelpiece, leaving surrounding surfaces uncluttered to highlight its sculptural profile and colour palette.

Dust delicate figural details softly with a natural bristle brush or microfibre cloth, avoid chemical cleaners, and spot-clean painted enamel areas with distilled water applied on cotton swabs.
