A truly elegant French Empire Period Console Table from circa 1800 with plum pudding mahogany veneer on an oak carcass. It has an extraordinary Gris St Anne des Pyrenees Marble Top over a frieze drawer with working lock and key. This is flanked by tapered columns of adorned with exceptional quality gilt bronze bases and palmetto capitols raised on an inverted platform base. It retains its original foxed mercury backed mirror plate. There are signs of use and some minor restoration to the platform base, all commensurate with age. There is nothing which detracts or affects form or function of this remarkable Console Table.
