FAQs

Victorian letter racks and desk tidies emerged during the 19th century as the volume of personal and business correspondence increased alongside the expansion of postal services.

These items were typically crafted from solid native hardwoods like English oak, featuring dovetailed joints, tiered partitions, and occasionally brass or felt accents.

Authenticity is indicated by period-appropriate timber grain, hand-cut joinery, aged patina, and minor wear consistent with nineteenth-century use.

It provides practical desktop organisation for contemporary mail, notebooks, and tablets while introducing historical warmth and texture to a modern interior.

Dust regularly with a dry cloth and occasionally apply traditional beeswax to nourish the timber, avoiding harsh chemical cleaners or excess moisture.
