Much of Jobling's Staithes Group period work shows the influence of the American artist Winslow Homer in terms of subject matter and compositions which Jobling would have seen when they were both painting in Cullercoats. Jobling interprets this in style of his own. Jobling exhibited at the Royal Academy and the Royal Society of British Artists from 1883. His life and work are featured in the Staithes Group Centenary Catalogue and his work is in good public and private collections.

"Cowbar Nab, Yorkshire" is a good large example showing a view at Staithes on the Yorkshire Coast. Measuring 28" x 36" it is in good original condition and is framed in a period gilt frame giving an overall size of 40"x 48". It is signed lower right and has some nice old labels on the back, one for the Academy of Arts, Newcastle upon Tyne.
