The rectangular table top comprises a stunning quality star-shaped parquet design, with the outline of the star, defined in ebony wood, bordered by an outer geometrical zig-zag pattern, all constructed with different cuts of oak in a wonderful configuration, displaying the magnificent medullary rays in the quarter sawn oak sections. The table top can be locked horizontally to the pedestal base with the two brass locking bolts on the underside of the table. The table can be removed from the pedestal base by un-screwing two large brass hinge bolts, to allow for easy through doorway or transportation. The oak centre table is raised on a central pedestal, comprising four decorative shaped columns; that stand above four bar shaped cross-sectional scroll shaped feet, that terminate on its original ceramic castors.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Originating in the 18th and 19th centuries, loo tables were designed specifically for playing the popular card game Loo. They feature a tilting top mechanism allowing the surface to fold vertically when not in use, saving space in drawing rooms.

Victorian craftsmen frequently utilized solid oak, walnut, mahogany, and rosewood for the structural framework, combining them with contrasting ebony, boxwood, or fruitwood inlays to form intricate geometric or floral marquetry motifs.

Authentic pieces feature period-correct brass or iron tilt latches, hand-carved pedestal supports, hand-cut veneer or parquet work, and original brass or ceramic castors attached to the feet.

A Victorian centre table can serve as an entryway focal point in an entrance hall or act as a compact dining table. When tilted vertically, the decorative parquet top functions as a visual architectural element against a wall.

Keep the wood away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent cracking or lifting of the veneer. Clean the surface using a dry microfibre cloth and apply a high-grade beeswax polish annually to protect the finish.
