We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

FAQs

During the Victorian era, advancements in foundry technology allowed for the mass production of ornate cast iron furniture, which became highly popular for domestic gardens, conservatories, and public parks due to its durability and capacity for intricate ornamentation.

These tables typically feature heavy-duty cast iron or wrought iron bases designed to withstand weather exposure, frequently paired with durable natural stone surfaces such as marble or slate.

Authentic pieces generally exhibit characteristic casting seams, heavy weight, natural oxidation patterns beneath layers of old paint, and construction methods utilizing hand-threaded bolts rather than modern welding.

This piece can be integrated into contemporary spaces by placing it on a sunlit veranda, within an orangery, or using it as a contrasting rustic console table within a modern hallway to add textural depth.

Preservation involves gently cleaning the surface with mild soap and water, avoiding harsh chemical strippers, and applying a protective rust-inhibiting wax or specialized exterior paint to stabilise existing oxidisation.
