Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This collection comprises three antique Imari porcelain bowls dating from the Meiji period, each displaying a varied shape with hand-painted patterns in cobalt blue, terracotta, iron-red enamel, and gold leaf accents. The decorative scheme incorporates detailed floral cartouches, underglaze cobalt blue elements, and scalloped rims. The group presents a polished finish with fine hand-painted polychrome decoration and gold detailing on the ceramic body. Each individual dish measures 5.5 cm high, 15.5 cm wide, and 15.5 cm deep. Suitable for display within an English Country House interior, this trio functions well as decorative table or cabinet accents. The pieces sit neatly upon a sideboard top or within a glazed display cabinet to showcase the intricate cobalt blue and terracotta motifs. Their compact footprint allows for flexible placement across living spaces or dining rooms, adding historic character and traditional Japanese craftsmanship to interior displays.

FAQs

Imari porcelain refers to Japanese export ceramics produced in the Arita region of Hizen province and shipped via the port of Imari, traditionally characterised by underglaze cobalt blue paired with overglaze iron-red enamelling and gilding.

Imari pieces are crafted from hard-paste porcelain, featuring underglaze cobalt blue painting, overglaze enamels in terracotta and iron-red tones, and delicate gold leaf highlights applied prior to final firing.

Authentic Imari exhibits slight structural irregularities from hand-crafting, weight consistent with high-fired porcelain, deep cobalt blue underglaze, and subtle age wear to the foot rim and gilding.

These decorative porcelain pieces function well arranged as a curated trio on a sideboard, displayed within an open bookshelf, or utilised as refined catch-all trays on entry console tables.

Clean gently using lukewarm water and mild dish soap with a soft microfibre cloth, avoiding abrasive pads, chemical cleaners, or dishwashers that could degrade overglaze enamelling and surface gilding.
