Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

FAQs

These tables typically feature utilitarian designs rooted in vernacular or country traditions, prioritising robust construction, practicality, and functional mechanisms like pull-out leaves to accommodate varying gathering sizes.

They are predominantly constructed from solid English or European oak, joined using traditional methods such as mortise and tenon joints, pegged frames, and hand-sawn timber planks displaying natural grain variations and patination.

Authenticity is indicated by hand-planed surfaces, irregular tool marks, period-appropriate timber shrinkage, oxidised iron or wooden fixings, and traditional wear patterns consistent with age and domestic use.

Pair the warm tones and textured timber with contemporary minimalist chairs to create a striking contrast, or anchor it in a neutral dining space to add historical depth and tactile warmth.

Maintain antique oak by applying natural beeswax periodically to nourish the wood, avoiding direct sunlight and excessive heat sources, and using coasters or placemats to protect the historic surface from moisture and stains.
