A costrel is a traditional vessel or flask used for carrying liquids such as water, cider, or ale during travel or agricultural work.

These items are typically constructed using traditional cooperage techniques, featuring curved wooden staves held together by wooden or metal bands, often fashioned from ash or oak.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-carved tool marks, genuine patina from age and handling, and period-appropriate iron or wooden fixings without modern manufacturing traces.

Such objects add organic warmth and historical texture when displayed on bookshelves, sideboards, or mantels as sculptural decorative accents.

Keep wooden treen out of direct sunlight and away from rapid humidity fluctuations, occasionally treating the surface with neutral microcrystalline wax if necessary.
