FAQs

Late 18th-century console tables, often associated with the Georgian and Neoclassical periods, were designed to stand against a wall in formal rooms, frequently topped with marble or decorated with intricate painted motifs.

These pieces were typically constructed from native hardwoods such as pine or oak, featuring hand-painted finishes, gilded accents, and mortise and tenon joinery characteristic of period craftsmanship.

Authenticity is determined by examining the hand-mixed paint patination, signs of age-related timber shrinkage, traditional tool marks, and construction methods consistent with late 1700s cabinet making.

Placing a historic console table in a modern setting creates a focal point in an entryway or living space, balancing minimalist decor with historic texture and narrative depth.

Preservation requires maintaining stable indoor humidity levels, avoiding direct sunlight to protect the painted surface, and cleaning only with a soft, dry cloth without chemical polishes.
