FAQs

Extendable tables gained popularity in the 19th century as dining habits evolved, allowing households to accommodate larger gatherings without sacrificing daily living space.

These tables are constructed primarily from solid hardwoods such as oak, employing traditional joinery techniques like mortise and tenon, alongside mechanical extension runners.

Authenticity is assessed by examining the grain patterns, tool marks, hand-cut joinery, type of screws or fasteners used, and the natural oxidisation of the timber over time.

Pairing the heavy wooden texture with minimalist contemporary chairs creates a balanced dining space that highlights the natural grain and craftsmanship of the table.

Maintain the timber by dusting regularly with a dry cloth, avoiding direct sunlight and heat sources, and applying natural beeswax periodically to nourish the wood.
