This is a large lidded sugar bowl
Clear puce backstamp and symbol for 1924
And pattern marked 2451.
Pristine condition
The pattern had been in production from 1887,
And it’s named Imari , due to the pattern being copied from images found in the port of Imari . On the Japanese island of Kyushu.
The rich cobalt blue is handpainted over and hand gilded in 22ct gold.
Highly prized , for its history, the skill of the paintress and gilder Imari has been regarded as luxury table ware through the centuries.
