The Pembroke table originated in the 18th century, traditionally featuring two folding drop leaves and a drawer, designed as a versatile piece for breakfast or writing.

These tables are typically constructed from solid hardwoods like mahogany, often featuring fine wood veneers, banding, dovetail joints in the drawers, and brass castors.

Authentic pieces from the Edwardian era generally exhibit machine-planed timber interiors combined with hand-cut dovetails, traditional adhesives, and period-appropriate hardware.

A drop-leaf table works well placed beside a sofa or in a compact hallway, functioning effectively as an occasional surface with folded leaves down.

Maintain antique mahogany by keeping it away from direct sunlight and heat sources, and treat the wood periodically with traditional beeswax rather than modern silicone sprays.
