Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This 19th Century Regency dining table is formed from mahogany with a warm brown timber colour and a figured top finished with a reeded edge and rounded corners. Deep aprons frame the perimeter above multiple turned and reeded legs, which terminate in brass castors. Visible details include grain variation across the polished surface and turned collars along the upright supports. Measuring 75 cm high, 330 cm wide, and 127 cm deep, the table seats 12 to 14 people. It functions as a large central dining surface in a formal dining room or a spacious entertaining space in a large open-plan living area.

FAQs

Originating in Britain during the early 19th century, Regency dining furniture is characterised by classical Greek and Roman architectural influences, symmetrical proportions, and polished hardwood construction.

Craftsmen primarily utilised imported mahogany, prized for its dense grain and durability, alongside brass castors and hand-cut extension mechanisms.

Authentic pieces typically exhibit hand-turned reeded legs, aged brass castors, natural oxidisation on the underside of the timber, and historical extension runners with hand-planed joinery.

Pairing a dark mahogany dining table with modern upholstered chairs, minimalist pendant lighting, or contemporary artwork creates a balanced contrast between traditional craftsmanship and modern design.

Preserve the original finish by applying beeswax lightly once or twice a year, wiping spills immediately, avoiding direct sunlight, and placing felt pads under hot plates or decorative vessels.
