Unusual Oak and Wicker Stick Stand

A very unusual oak and wicker stick stand. The stand has a simple oak frame with turned supports and two wicker compartments for umbrellas and walking sticks. The wicker compartments have been varnished to match the oak frame and strengthened by wooden lats, the tops are lined with leather presumably to protect the wicker from water and guide the sticks in neatly. The wicker bears a striking resemblance to eel traps. The design is probably unique and has elements of Arts and Crafts influence about it. The whole is in very good condition with just the usual wear and tear, it is perfectly functional and ready to use. A rare and unusual piece with a great period look. C.1900.
