This is a fine quality antique English provincial oak Georgian tripod table, with a square top, constructed from solid oak, incorporating a tilting mechanism, circa 1760, in excellent original condition.
The oak tripod table is constructed with an unusual square-top design, making this a scarcer provincial table, compare to most of the round Georgian tripod tables in existence. The tilt top table features the original working hinge and brass locking mechanism, which locks the table into place when horizontal. The pedestal locks into the brass locking mechanism. The Georgian tripod table has been designed with a well-shaped baluster turned central pedestal stem, uniting the cabriole legs on pad feet.
Condition Report:
This is a fine quality antique English provincial oak Georgian tripod table, with a square top, constructed from solid oak, incorporating a tilting mechanism, circa 1760, in excellent original condition. The oak tripod table has been cleaned and wax-polished by hand, to a professional standard in our workshop. Therefore, the colour and patination are of an excellent standard, coupled with years of care and cleaning it has received. Nominal old use marks to the top and leading edges and top, but nothing significant considering the age of the item. The original brass locking mechanism is complete and in working order, which is nice to see. The Georgian tripod table features the original top, base, pedestal, and legs. The oak tripod table is solid in joint and is ready to use.
