Victorian music stands gained prominence during the 19th century as parlour music became a central form of domestic entertainment in middle and upper-class households.

These pieces were typically constructed from dense hardwoods like mahogany, walnut, or oak, featuring turned central pillars, adjustable ratchets or screws, and tripod bases.

Authenticity is usually determined by patination, traditional joinery methods, handmade screw threads, and Makers patent marks or stamps from the period.

It can be utilised in a living room or study to display open art books, sheet music, or vintage folios, adding vertical interest and historical character to an empty corner.

Maintain them by keeping away from direct heat sources and sunlight, dusting regularly with a dry cloth, and occasionally applying a microcrystalline wax to nourish the wood.
