Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Industrial furniture originated during the late 19th and early 20th centuries within factories, workshops, and commercial premises where structural durability was paramount. Heavy bases cast from molten iron were frequently combined with dense hardwoods to endure continuous daily use in working environments.

Tables from this period were typically constructed using cast iron or forged steel frames paired with thick solid hardwoods such as oak, pitch pine, or beech. The metal components were often painted or lacquered to resist oxidisation in industrial spaces.

Authentic pieces frequently display casting marks, foundry names, or patent stamps impressed directly into the metalwork. Authentic age is further indicated by natural surface wear on original paint finishes and operational wear on functional components like castors.

An industrial table functions well as a dining or work surface when paired with contemporary upholstered seating or clean-lined timber chairs. The contrast between painted ironwork and warm oak tones complements neutral plasterwork and exposed brick walls alike.

Dust the metal base regularly with a soft dry cloth and apply microcrystalline wax to prevent oxidisation on exposed iron areas. Clean the oak surface with a damp cloth and apply a natural beeswax polish periodically to nourish the wood grain.
