This Victorian pine side table in a rustic farmhouse style combines a light brown natural wood top with a dark brown painted base. The rectangular piece incorporates three front drawers fitted with small brass drop handles and distinct ring turnings on its four legs. Signs of age and wear appear through the patinated darker finish on the base and the grain variation across the timber surfaces. The table measures 71 cm high by 183 cm wide and 76 cm deep. Placement suits various living areas as a functional writing desk, a generous hallway console table, or a dining room serving surface. The slim profile and low height allow positioning against walls or behind sofas in a sitting room, providing practical surface space alongside concealed storage within the three drawers.

FAQs

Victorian pine side tables were utilitarian utility pieces crafted from durable European pine, often featuring hand-turned legs, dovetailed drawers, and a functional surface used in kitchens, hallways, or domestic workspaces.

These tables were primarily constructed using solid pine, joined with traditional joinery like dovetail drawer joints and mortise and tenon leg frame construction, fitted with simple brass or iron hardware.

Authentic period pieces exhibit natural wood shrinkage, uneven wear patterns, hand-planed underside surfaces, historical drawer construction techniques, and genuine aging on original metal fittings.

Position the piece in a hallway, kitchen, or living room to add visual warmth and contrast against modern minimalist architectural elements, neutral wall tones, or modern ceramics.

Dust regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and apply a clear beeswax polish once or twice a year to feed the timber, protecting the surface wood without removing original patina.
