Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

This nineteenth-century Swedish garden table combines a circular grey stone top with a light blue painted cast iron baluster pedestal and a heavy octagonal stone base block. The cast iron barrel base includes a moulded iron collar under the round top and shows visible brown rust patches through the pale blue paint, while the natural stone surfaces display authentic weathering and texture from use. The piece stands 91.4 cm high, 97.7 cm wide, and 97.7 cm deep overall. Suitable for an outdoor garden setting or a sunlit conservatory, the table is designed for heavy-duty exterior placement, with the substantial stone base traditionally positioned underground for structural stability. It serves as a practical, sturdy surface for exterior spaces while retaining its original functional character from the 1860 period.

FAQs

During the 19th century, Swedish garden furniture combined durable cast iron metalwork with heavy natural stone components, influenced by Neoclassical and Scandinavian proportions suitable for outdoor display.

These tables typically featured a cast iron central baluster pedestal bolted to a heavy stone base block for stability, topped with a thick, circular hand-worked stone slab.

Authentic pieces exhibit signs of natural surface weathering, layers of aged paint showing oxidisation underneath, hand-chiselled stone edges, and seam lines from traditional sand-casting methods.

A stone-topped pedestal table functions effectively as a focal point in a conservatory, sunroom, or outdoor courtyard when paired with modern minimalistic seating to highlight the tactile materials.

Keep iron components clean and dry where possible to manage corrosion, clear organic moss gently from stone surfaces using water with a soft brush, and apply a rust-inhibiting seal if kept outdoors.
