Bow Fluted Porcelain Plate with Kakiemon Style Decoration in the Two Quail Pattern c. 1755

Plate of soft-paste porcelain painted in enamels and gilded in imitation of Japanese Kakiemon ware; in the middle are a prunus-tree, chrysanthemums, other flowering plants and two quails; the rim has a border of close red foliage with gilt flowers at intervals

This is a very rare plate.

Similar plates are represented in some of the leading museums and private collections.

For example, you can find the exact same plate is in the V&A South Kensington Museum.

Top diameter 22.8 cm

Bottom diameter 15.7 cm

Height 5 cm

Weight 771 grams

Condition :

Paint and gilding loss consistent with age.

One small firing crack.

A few chips to the lower rim.

Otherwise the plate is in good condition with no visible damage not described by me, and traces of restoration.
