Victorian Majolica Cheese Dome C1880

Description

This wonderful VICTORIAN MAJOLICA CHEESE DOME dates from circa 1880.

It is decorated with large, green leaves set within yellow rope archways against the most attractive lilac ground.

The condition is good. There is no restoration. There is a small, old, surface chip to the inner edge of the stand and the Knop has been reglued with hardly any loss.

An unusual three-colour combination which works very well.

Diameter of Base: 11 inches (28 cm)

This Victorian majolica cheese dome from circa 1880 is formed from earthenware with a green, yellow and lilac glaze. The circular covered piece displays relief-moulded green leaves and yellow rope swags across the lilac background, topped with a finial handle, while the lower stand has a flared base with further green leaf decoration.
