A Fine 19th Century French Wrought Iron and Gilded Console Table with Original Marble Top.

This fine table is a perfect example of a metal console table, something that became a speciality of French makers during this period. The frame is constructed entirely of wrought iron so is incredibly strong and stable and elements of the piece have been gilded to create a contrast in colour. The top is original marble with grey and white veins and moulded edge.

The metalwork is executed in the rococo revival style and the use of swags, foliage and anthemion-type designs is particularly effective.

This table is of a larger scale than most examples.
