Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Temple jars are high-shouldered porcelain urns with domed covers that originated in China during the Qin Dynasty, historically used to hold spices, salt, or ashes. Padouk tables are low, carved hardwood stands traditionally crafted in China to display prized ceramics, bronze vessels, or bonsai.

The jars are constructed from kaolin clay, fired at high temperatures, and decorated with polychrome enamels and gilt accents. The underlying tables are crafted from padouk, a dense tropical hardwood, utilizing mortise and tenon joinery and hand-carved relief decoration.

Authentic 19th-century Cantonese porcelain features hand-painted Rose Medallion or Famille Rose motifs showing alternating panels of figures and floral scenes, brushwork variation, slight glaze irregularities, and unglazed rim edges on the cover and jar.

Position the pair symmetrically on either side of a fireplace, sideboard, or grand doorway to add vertical interest and structure. The deep wood tones and colourful enamel panels work as focal accents in both traditional and eclectic modern schemes.

Dust the porcelain with a dry, soft microfibre cloth, avoiding harsh chemical cleaners that may wear down the hand-painted enamels or gilt finials. Treat the padouk wood with beeswax polish periodically, keeping it away from direct heat sources to prevent timber shrinkage.
