Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

FAQs

The Aesthetic Movement emerged in the late 19th century, emphasising art for arts sake with a focus on visual and compositional beauty over moral or narrative purpose, often incorporating simplified forms and handcrafted details.

Cabinet makers typically utilised solid ash wood, employing traditional joinery such as dovetails for drawers and mortise and tenon joints for frames, ensuring structural integrity without modern adhesives.

Authentic pieces exhibit period-correct tool marks, hand-cut dovetailing in the drawer construction, natural timber ageing, and characteristic grain patterns typical of nineteenth-century forestry and milling techniques.

Pairing a historical wooden table with contemporary minimalist seating or placing it against a neutral wall creates a balanced contrast that highlights its craftsmanship within a modern setting.

Maintain antique ash by keeping it away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent timber splitting, applying microcrystalline wax periodically, and dusting gently with a dry, soft cloth.
