Medallions Of Wellington�s Victories Against Napoleon in the Peninsular CampaignA group of gilt bronze medallions in very good condition dating to 1814. This group consists of 23 individual medallions, the obverse commemorating Wellington�s victories in the peninsular against Napoleon Bonaparte from 1808 until 1814. On the reverse is a floating winged angel and to the edge �By The Mercy Of God�. They are contained within a brass canister which is inscribed with �British Victories in the Peninsular.(slight wear to inscription) The cover has a portrait of Wellington and the words �Marquis of Wellington�. Stamped inside the cover �Manufactured by Thomason & Jones� on the bottom of the canister �First Battle Portugal Aug.17. 1808 Last Battle France AP.10. 1814�. The set also has a mahogany display stand.The medallions measure 16mm dia. The canister is 18mm dia. x 3.7cm H.
