A group of gilt bronze medallions in very good condition dating to 1814.
On the reverse is a floating winged angel and to the edge ‘By The Mercy Of God’. They are contained within a brass canister which is inscribed with ‘British Victories in the Peninsular.(slight wear to inscription) The cover has a portrait of Wellington and the words ‘Marquis of Wellington’. Stamped inside the cover ‘Manufactured by Thomason & Jones’ on the bottom of the canister ‘First Battle Portugal Aug.17. 1808 Last Battle France AP.10. 1814’. The set also has a mahogany display stand.
The medallions measure 16mm dia.
The canister is 18mm dia. x 3.7cm H.
Mahogany display stand is 19.8cm x 6cm x 9mm.
Wear commensurate with age and use.
