Arts and Crafts Leather Model of a Bull Elephant

This is a beautiful find from the early part of the 20th Century, it was made for Liberty and is known as “ The Bull Elephant ”

This handsome beast is free standing, he is made in Leather, the tusks are not made in Ivory they have been replaced with a “look alike” material

The main body’s condition is entirely original

This lovely piece is in good all round condition

The Handsome Bull is 20” high, 24” long and 11” wide

This freestanding decorative sculpture is an Arts and Crafts model of a bull elephant from 1930, made in dark brown leather with inset faux ivory tusks and flared ears. The surface shows a moulded skin texture with wrinkles across the back and flank, a curved trunk reaching towards the feet, and a thin tail at the rear, standing on four thick legs with padded feet. The model measures 51 cm high, 61 cm wide, and 28 cm deep, and it was made for Liberty. In a home today, this sculpture is suited for display on a sideboard top or within a gentleman's library. The design provides a sculptural element that complements traditional study or living room interiors, bringing a decorative nineteenth-century animal motif to a tabletop or display surface.
