FAQs

Jasperware is a type of stoneware developed by Josiah Wedgwood in the late 18th century, famous for its matte finish and neoclassical relief ornamentation.

Traditional Jasperware is crafted from an unglazed vitreous stoneware body, typically featuring white ceramic sprigged reliefs applied to a coloured clay background.

Authentic pieces often feature impressed maker marks, high-definition crispness in the relief mouldings, and a smooth, unglazed tactile surface quality.

These pieces work effectively as standalone decorative accents on open shelving, sideboards, or mantelpieces, contrasting with clean architectural lines.

Dust gently with a soft, dry cloth and avoid harsh chemical cleaners or submersion in water, particularly for pieces with metallic mounts.
