This pair of Edwardian wine tables in the Chippendale style originates from around 1905 and is fashioned from solid mahogany with a rich warm brown timber finish. Each piece stands on a turned pedestal column decorated with intricate acanthus leaf carving, supported by a tripod base of cabriole legs ending in scroll feet. The square tray tops feature pierced fretwork galleries and moulded lower edges, displaying fine joinery and traditional ornamental details characteristic of English country house furniture. These occasional tables measure 66 cm high, 36 cm wide, and 36 cm deep, offering compact surfaces suitable for placement at the end of a sofa or beside an armchair. They provide functional display surfaces for drinks, small lamps, or decorative accessories, functioning well in both traditional drawing rooms and contemporary living spaces as versatile accent pieces.

Originating in eighteenth-century England, a Chippendale style wine table is a small occasional table typically featuring a tripod base, carved detailing, and a raised gallery border designed to hold decanters and glasses securely.

These tables are constructed from dense hardwoods such as solid mahogany, featuring hand-carved acanthus leaf motifs, pierced fretwork galleries, and turned central pedestals with dovetail jointing at the tripod legs.

Authentic period pieces display hand-carved fretwork with subtle irregularities, natural wood shrinkage along the top grain, hand-cut dovetail joints securing the legs to the column block, and age-appropriate patination beneath the base.

Position them as flanking accent tables beside a streamlined sofa or place one on either side of an armchair to add visual depth, warm timber tones, and historic character to a contemporary living space.

Dust regularly with a soft microfibre cloth, clean intricate fretwork using a dry soft-bristled brush, apply high-quality beeswax twice yearly, and keep away from direct heat sources to prevent wood shrinkage or cracking.
