Superior quality late C19th Chinese Qing Dynasty carved hardwood quartetto or nest of tables.
Set of four ‘nesting’ rosewood carved simulated ‘bamboo’ frames with intricately carved and pierced friezes with fruiting vine/prunus detail . Panelled tops and raised on shaped supports with stepped stretchers .
In excellent original condition , having achieved a rich , dense colour and patina to the selected high grade of hardwood .
The carving on these tables simulating bamboo is highly significant, as in Chinese culture bamboo represents purity , modesty , patience , persistent and restraint .
