C19th Very Large Pair of Buff Terracotta Lions; of Very Impressive Scale

Description

Magnificent C19th very large pair of buff terracotta lions; of very impressive scale; a true opposing pair in recumbent positions with raised turned heads having endearing expressions, long flowing manes, front paws outstretched and rear haunches drawn up with long swept tails curled round to the front. Raised on integral substantial plinths. Lovely warm buff coloured glaze with a dry/satin finish. Have been displayed in a country house orangery for many years and would look fabulous internally as could be susceptible to frost damage if used outside.
