We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

The Regency style spans the late 18th to early 19th centuries, heavily influenced by neoclassical, Greek, and Roman motifs, characterised by clean architectural lines, rich timbers, and restrained ornamentation.

Master cabinetmakers predominantly utilised dense hardwoods such as mahogany and rosewood, frequently incorporating flame mahogany veneers on drawer fronts and primary surfaces to highlight dramatic grain patterns.

Authenticity is determined by inspecting traditional joinery methods such as hand-cut dovetails, secondary woods like pine or oak used in drawer linings, natural oxidation and patina, and period-accurate hardware.

Pairing a dark wood antique with contemporary abstract art, minimalist lighting, or sleek ceramics creates a sophisticated contrast that anchors modern living spaces with historic gravitas.

Maintain antique timber by avoiding direct sunlight and extreme humidity fluctuations, cleaning only with a soft dry cloth, and occasionally nourishing the wood with traditional beeswax rather than modern silicone polishes.
