Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Regency metamorphic buffet is a specialised piece of nineteenth-century dining room furniture engineered with internal mechanisms that allow it to expand or raise, transforming from a simple console or server into a multi-tiered display table.

These tables were primarily constructed from solid flame mahogany or mahogany veneers, prized for their deep grain and rich colour, supported by cast iron or brass mechanical components within the rising frame.

Authentic pieces feature period-correct joinery such as hand-cut dovetails, original brass or iron lifting mechanisms, age-appropriate wear to internal runners, and a natural deep patina across the timber surfaces.

It serves effectively as a hallway console or a dining room sideboard, where its classical clean lines, dark mahogany timber, and architectural footings complement both contemporary and traditional schemes.

Dust the timber regularly with a dry soft cloth and apply a high-quality beeswax polish annually along the wood grain, while keeping the piece away from direct heat sources and high humidity to protect the mechanical action.
