Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

FAQs

French farmhouse dining tables are characterised by their generous proportions, solid timber construction, and utilitarian yet elegant design, historically serving as the central gathering place for rural households.

These tables are traditionally crafted from heavy European oak, utilizing time-honoured joinery techniques such as mortise and tenon joints, pegged frames, and substantial turned or tapered legs.

Authentic pieces exhibit natural ageing, hand-planed surfaces, traditional tool marks, timber shrinkage, and historic wear patterns around the stretcher base, whereas reproductions often display uniform distressing.

Balancing the visual weight of heavy timber can be achieved by pairing the table with contemporary minimalist seating or sleek lighting to create a striking contrast between old and new.

Preservation requires dusting with a dry microfibre cloth, avoiding harsh chemical cleaners, and using heat-resistant mats to protect the untreated or softly waxed timber surface from moisture and stains.
