Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

The William IV period (18301837) bridges the Regency and Victorian eras, characterized by substantial proportions, classical carved details, and robust pedestals. Furniture from this period frequently utilises rich timbers such as mahogany and rosewood, featuring turned column supports, turned finials, and heavy quadform bases.

These tables were primarily constructed using dense hardwoods such as solid mahogany or mahogany veneers over oak or pine secondary frames. Components were secured with traditional joinery, including hand-cut dovetail joints on drawers and timber wooden hinges for the drop-leaf supports.

Authentic pieces feature period-correct construction markers, such as hand-sawn timber elements, irregular drawer dovetails, original wooden brass-collared castors or bun feet, and an octagonal or heavy circular central pedestal attached to a concaved plinth base.

Drop-leaf tables offer versatile functional surface space, ideal for placement at the end of a sofa, in an entryway, or beside a armchair. Dropping the side flaps allows the piece to rest flush against a wall or furniture piece when not in full use.

Dust the surface regularly with a soft, dry microfibre cloth and apply a high-grade beeswax polish once or twice a year to maintain the wood finish. Position the table away from direct sunlight, radiators, and strong moisture sources to prevent timber movement or surface cracking.
